About Rough Cuts
Rough Cuts is the second album released by Healey St. It consists of eight songs, two cover songs and six originals. The album begins with:
Foz do Arelho-Is a town in Portugal, where I was born. This is an instrumental piece that I composed while i was watching a slideshow of pictures of my parents from the 60's. My mother used to say that my portuguese was so bad that it sounded more like spanish then portuguese.

Down the Road-This piece has a 50's type vibe with a twist on the vocals. I had fun with not just the guitar part but the keyboard was a blast to play. The song is about people that disappear, people you see everyday and then circumstances change and their gone, although sometimes they do float back into your life.

Five and Dime-This song is written with a fauxed happy mode. The idea behind the song being that we would stay happy as long as we follow the rules, but what if we could change the future now. This song was partially inspired by Erica and Alyssa. Two of my nieces who were involved with the Washington March back in 2017.
Forever Young-This is a Bob Dylan song that I have always loved, he wrote this as a lullaby to his oldest son Jessie. I recorded this song to send a message to my kids when I'm gone. I doubt they'll listen to it while I'm around.

Just Another Day-This is a Blues based piece with some creative keyboard and abit of a country type guitar, most of my guitar work was done with the Strat on the cover, this song had to have my Telecaster. The song is about a band breaking up, how the magic disappeared and all you had left was squabbles. I wrote it in a way that made it seem like a couple having troubles.

95 South-A guitar jazz instrumental that wouldn't have existed if not for Tammy and Glenn (Sorry, not giving last names). I had been recording for about a year and hadn't finished any projects. Tammy introduced me to Glenn, who is a lover of music and has such a passion for jazz that she galvanised me to finish this song.

Sue-Is a country type tune with a hidden message.

SugarMan-This song was written by Sixto Rodriguez, if you haven't seen the movie make sure you catch it. A great songwriter with a great sense of integrity.
